JSS Academy of Technical Education, Bengaluru is proud to start Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the current year 2021 with an intake of 60. This can be attributed as a result of the Institutions’ potential and also the significant contributions made to AI & ML field.The emergence of the department is also the consequence of the huge demand from the industry, and the need to address emerging real world applications and research problems arising in this rapidly evolving field. The current intake for the program is 120. Faculty with expertise in AI & ML and allied fields have good teaching and research experience to impart quality education in AI & ML through state-of-the-art learning environment. Funded projects related to AI & ML applications and research is being implemented at the Institution. Several Patents and publications are accomplished in AI & ML domain. Awards and recognitions are conferred from reputed organizations to faculty for their contributions to the field. Workshops, seminars and National/International conferences on AI & ML are organized regularly.
To keep abreast with Industry requirements and standards, Industry Experts are involved in curriculum development and course delivery. Several MoUs with Industries are established for Students Training, Seminars, Internships and Project works. Well established teaching-learning processes will be practiced to effectively implement student-centric outcome based education. The department will offer various Students’ forum/clubs for students to exhibit their talent in curricular and co-curricular activities. Mentoring system exists to help students at the individual level for Professional guidance, career advancement, course work specific issues and for all-round development.
With these strengths, the department's endeavor is to train the students on strong foundations of AI and ML to meet the emerging challenges of industry and society.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications have brought enormous changes to our lives. AI attempts to bring in intelligence into machines artificially by mimicking the human intelligence. AI refers to machines and solutions that imitate "cognitive" functions that humans associate with the human mind, such as "learning" and "problem solving”. Machine learning (ML) is the study of computer algorithms that improve through experience and by the use of data. It is seen as a part of artificial intelligence which tries to build self-learning ability into the machines. It is about machines improving from data, knowledge, experience, and interaction. AI & ML is an upcoming field in the area of computer science that is rapidly expanding its boundaries to variety of fields like manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, data security, entertainment, education, gaming, finance, social media, autonomous transportation, robotics, e-commerce, natural language processing and many more.
As the requirement for technology and its problem-solving abilities continues to grow, more companies have recognized the need to adopt AI and ML algorithms to create smarter, more personalized and insightful solutions. Every impactful technology company now has an Artificial Intelligence team in place. These companies are investing billions to build intelligent systems. Companies such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon are not just employing AI, but have made it a central part of their core intellectual property. Machine learning and deep learning will create a new set of jobs in the coming years. An under graduate degree in this discipline would make the graduates industry-relevant and also enable them for higher studies, research and entrepreneurship in the most sought-after AI and ML field.

The four year B.E program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning comprises fundamentals of computer science courses along with necessary courses pertaining to AI and ML. This course helps to gain primary knowledge and skills in mathematics and core computer science courses like computer architectures, data structures and algorithms, operating systems, programming languages like Java and Python, Database technologies, communication networks. Students are imparted with basic and advanced courses related to AI & ML like principles of AI, advanced machine learning, digital image processing, neural networks and deep learning. Apart from the core courses, Students get to exposure to learn advanced and multidisciplinary courses relevant to AI & ML like computer vision, natural language processing, Internet of Things, Robotic process automation etc. The program includes good number of practical courses, mini and major projects and Internships.
