About NSS:<\/h4>\n

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year, 1969. \u00a0NSS (National Service Scheme) activity is one of the primary activities for social services and learning importance at the very young stage while students are graduating.NSS activity is primarily run by the student volunteers and is coordinated by Dr. Girish N. At this academy, this cell is active since the inception of this college.<\/p>\n

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Understand the community in which they work<\/span>
\n Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities<\/span>
\n Gain skills in mobilizing community participation<\/span>
\n Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes<\/span>
\n Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters<\/span>
\n Practice national integration and social harmony<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Motto<\/strong>
\nThe Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person’s point of view and also show consideration to ‘\/other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines\/on the belief that the welfare .of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.<\/p>\n

Symbol<\/strong><\/p>\n

The symbol for the NSS has been based on the giant Rath Wheel of the world famous Konark Sun Temple (The Black Pagoda) situated in Orissa, India. The wheel portrays the cycle of creation, preservation and release and signifies the movement in life across time and space, The symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of NSS for social change.<\/p>\n

Badge<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NSS Symbol is embossed on the badge. The eight bars in the wheel represent the 24 hours of a day. The red colour indicates that the volunteer is full of young blood that is lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit. The navy blue colour indicates the cosmos of which the NSS is tiny part, ready to contribute its share to the welfare of the man<\/p>\n

YODHA<\/h4>\n

Our student volunteers added one more feather in NSS chapter of JSSATEB, when on their own initiation they started \u201cYODHA \u201cThe warrior within in the year 2013 under this chapter students have demonstrated their social awareness skill and help the needy one.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Yodha implies a warrior. A \u00a0fighter.\u00a0 Not to fight battles, not to wage war but to bring peace to the irrational society of ours. Each one of us desperately wants a change in the way our society works. Every one of us is longing for a fresh breath of air. As the saying goes, \u201cIf you want to change, then, be the change\u201d, it is absolutely pointless and inappropriate to wait for something drastic to suddenly happen. It is our nation. Our India. We are the youth, the people responsible to make the drastic change a real thing. Realising our responsibility towards our country, we started with our small contributions. We thought we should start with the place we spend most of our time. Yes! Our college. It all started with introducing Yodha, its aims and its motives. Thanks to the technology, spreading the word became easier. Through social networking sites, we disseminated about the newborn organisation. Surprisingly, the response was quick and enthusiastic. Not only the students but the teachers too showed ample amount of interest.\u00a0 With all the support and impetuosity, we started with our purpose. Purpose to serve. Purpose to give a new look to service activities. Like everything else, we started off small.\u00a0 We had our meetings short and purposeful. Clearly, academics were first. We made sure we didn\u2019t miss out on any of our lectures. One of the most important things Yodha emphasised on was leadership. Leadership is all about taking initiatives and that\u2019s the most important element in building up of organisations of any sort. In every single meeting that was held, we were given responsibilities. Not only we had leaders, but also we were made leaders. Our communication skills were improved by organising pragmatic discussions and debates. We shared our thoughts and our experiences too! It was a learning experience en masse. After enough number of meetings, we were in the saddle to make it official.<\/p>\n
