Academic activities in an educational institute encompass, but not limited to, curriculum design, planning, implementing and monitoring. The emphasis is on quality of teaching-learning, continuous evaluation and end of semester / year results.
Teaching has been my passion in spite of choosing this profession by force. Five years of my industrial experience before embracing this profession has helped me a lot to groom my students to the requirements of the professional world.
The responsibilities, as Dean – Academics, bestowed on me are:
- Support, supervise and evaluate all the departments in a manner that promotes academic ambiance in the institution.
- Coordinate in curriculum development for the Institute.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of institute’s Vision and Mission.
- To ensure adherence to ordinances as approved by JSSMVP, UGC, AICTE and VTU.
- Ensure that the OBE is practiced by all the departments, academic audits are conducted regularly and prepare action plans thereon.
- To monitor the progress of the students, with the help of HODs, in terms of results and other criteria.
- Assist the Head of Institution in evaluating the performance of faculty members.
- Provide recommendations to the Principal regarding sabbatical and other leaves for faculty members.
- Assist the Principal in the process of faculty and staff selection and retention.
- Supervise the admission process of students at Institute level.
- Supervise the IA Tests and University examinations.
- Issue necessary directions for implementation of the ordinances and other decisions; Plan for expansion of academic programmers.
- Get the quality of the question papers assessed by the external peers / experts
