Engineering Mathematics

Vision

“To be one of the best departments in providing the quality education in Science and Engineering”

Mission

M1: To inspire students to gain in depth knowledge in Mathematics for engineering applications.

M2: To establish the centre of excellence in pure and applied Mathematics involved in research.

About the department

The Department is Headed by Dr. K.M. Nagaraja

Department has 7 qualified faculties of which five are doctorates and two are pursuing their Ph.D.  The average teaching experience of the staff is around 19 years.  The result of the Mathematics subject is consistently good and around 80% in the university examinations. The department supports the core departments in imparting quality education in Mathematics for both UG and PG courses.  Mathematics is one which unifies all branches of science and technology and it reflects the spirit of rationality. Hence Mathematics plays a very significant role in shaping the career of an engineering student.

All the faculty members are actively involved in research work and have published more than 60 papers in National / International journals and conferences. They are upgrading their knowledge by attending faculty development programs, seminars, workshops and by delivering guest lectures, presenting papers in the National/International conferences. The faculty members are also guiding research students leading to Ph.D degree in VTU. The department has organized Guest lecturers on topics like Numerical Methods, Fourier series and Transforms, Modeling and IQ development for the benefit of students by eminent speakers from reputed institutions such as TIFR and IISc.  The department has conducted a two days workshop on Wavelets in collaboration with dept of E & IE.
